Warriors FC celebrate a successful year

WANDERERS – Warriors Football Club celebrates a successful year for its young players in the leagues.

Warriors Football Club parents were recently treated to a glittering celebration of this year results of their junior teams at the Deck at the Wanderers Club. The entire club from U6 to U16 came together to celebrate the occasion.

According to chair lady Moïra Valkin, even though the South Africa Football Association Rand Central Region does not keep league tables for the junior teams from U6 to U9, the Warriors achieved an undefeated rate of 84 per cent with their A teams across those age groups – only losing two games in total.

“Furthermore in the age groups from U10 to U16, Warriors FC was the only club to enter all seven Super Leagues winning a whopping four of them (U10SL, U12SL, U13SL and U14SL) and coming 2nd in two other age groups and 3rd in one,” Valkin said.

Director of coaching Herold Matodzi said that these results have been the culmination of a few years work. Warriors FC players receive coaching from professional coaches who have to comply with the highest standards. This close-knit coaching team has been together for a few years and one of their focuses is to imbue kids with their unsurpassed love and passion for what they consider to be the greatest game in the world.

“Warriors FC is also particularly proud of these unbelievable results as the club’s missions statement is to coach so that kids play football with flair and without fear of making mistakes. This sets a good foundation for players to develop and play the best level each player can achieve or perhaps even one day make a career out of football,” she added.

“Testament to that is that three of their U16’s signed contracts with PSL clubs this year. We are especially proud of this as these are boys who were at Warriors from a young age and who travelled with Warriors to Spain, France and Germany and who the club placed and assisted to find these PSL contracts,” said Valkin.

The club opens on 21 January next year with registration starting on 17 February at either the Wanderers Club or Sandton Sports Club.
