The JP Morgan Corporate Challenge in Johannesburg has been postponed.
The well anticipated running event was scheduled to take place on Thursday 26 March in Illovo at The Wanders Club.
“The well-being of our participants is our top priority, and we will continue to monitor the developments surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak in close consultation with the relevant local health and government authorities,” noted the group in an email to participants.
This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address to the nation, declaring a natural disaster on accelerated outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in South Africa.
To implement social distancing measures and help curve the spread of the virus within the country, the presidency has prohibited gatherings of more than 100 people. Large-scale celebrations of national days have also been cancelled
Race organisers noted that it is currently in discussions with the relevant local authorities with regards to a feasible alternative date for the race.
“All current team and individual registrations will automatically be moved to the new event date,” it concluded.
