Watch: Work your leg muscles with Discovery Soccer Park
ILLOVO – Watch a video from the Discovery Soccer Park to help youngsters train at home.
Discovery Soccer Park has been posting videos on social media and YouTube to help soccer players remain active during the lockdown.
The company, which has soccer venues in Parkmore and Illovo, has often awarded prizes for those posting videos of themselves completing some of the challenges put to them and tagging the company and #StayAtHomePlayAtHome.
In one of the latest videos, coaches demonstrate a solid workout routine that could help more than just soccer players strengthen their muscles that would otherwise not be used much at home.
DSP Lockdown Daily Exercise Program – Day 21
The coaches start with knee-high spot sprints before moving on to a 30-second plank, or a side-plank if one prefers to do that. This is followed by T-sprints, or running back and forth at set positions and crouching to touch the ground or an object just off the ground (in this case toilet paper).
Next up is a side-to-side shuffle, which sees the coach running sideways in a straight line and crouching to touch the toilet paper. Muscles in the legs can benefit much from these last two exercises. Lastly, one-touch passing sees a coach kicking a ball against a wall repeatedly. He keeps the passes straight and low on the ground so he can repeat the kicks at a fast rate. One-touch means the person cannot stop the ball before passing again.
People should rest for one minute at this point before repeating the whole workout, which should be completed three to five times for the best results.
