St Peter’s College hosts annual Sports and Cultural Festival
SUNNINGHILL – St Peter's College hosted its 13th annual Sports and Cultural Festival and a good time was had by all.

St Peter’s College hosted its 13th annual three-day Sports and Cultural Festival at its Sunninghill campus in Sandton.
The weekend saw 3 000 pupils from 48 schools and their families enjoy a myriad of sporting and cultural activities including basketball, soccer, netball, chess tournaments, pavement art, photography, drama, debating and public speaking contests as well as a choir festival.

The teams on the day were diverse, encompassing independent schools, former model C schools and previously disadvantaged schools, as well as teams from Swaziland. Even though the pupils faced chilly weather, it didn’t detract from the wonderful atmosphere and the overall success of the festival.

St Peter’s College head girl, April Donnelly, said the festival was all about making memories and enjoying the moment.

However, the competition was fierce. The festival’s chess competition was won by Prestige College.
St David’s beat Kliptown 2–0 in the boys’ soccer tournament and Kliptown were victorious over Beaulieu College 2–0 in the girls’ soccer tournament.
The netball final games were cancelled due to rain so the winner of each pool shared the trophy which included Krugersdorp High and Prestige College.

The pavement art competition which took the theme, Illusions, did not fail to light up the college with colour and creativity and first prize went to St John’s College for its artistic depiction of a boy on a water tube flowing into a pen and resulting in ink on a page.
