Running water is a nightmare for residents

MORNINGSIDE - Water is constantly running at a cul-de-sac off West Road North and damaging the pavements and the road.

Concerned resident Amanda Murray said the tar was being eroded from the constant running water.

“This is also a serious health hazard and is terribly unsightly, ruining the look of our road,” she added.

Murray also explained that residents in that area have had a problem with stormwater running into their road from Redhill Road for years.

Bertha Peters-Scheepers, spokesperson for the Johannesburg Roads Agency, said they found out that there were three leaking valves which were causing the problem.

“As soon as the leakages have been resolved, reinstatement work will be done,” she explained.

Peters-Scheepers added that the query had been logged with Joburg Water and the matter would be attended to by them.

Eleanor Mavimbela from Joburg Water did not give a date when the restoration would commence or be completed, but said a team would be dispatched to attend to the call.
