The event took place at St Stithians College in Sandton, and saw crowds entertained by an array of musical groups, all to raise funds for the school.
Alistair Stewart, director of advancement at the school explained the aim of hosting the festival, now in its second year.
“Basically the aim of the festival is to bring Saints members and outsiders together as a way to build a sense of community within the Sandton area,” he said.
“We want to create a culture of giving, especially with our pupils, and to encourage that sense of giving back to the community around us.”
Stewart added that hosting the event was a way to raise funds for an auditorium the school hoped to build which would celebrate the arts and music, something that was a tradition at the school.
Additionally, the festival was billed as a lead-up to an upcoming arts festival, which is set to take place next year around the same time at the school.
“We hope that through hosting such events, we can create a place to showcase the arts and music, much like the Grahamstown festival,” he added.
Stewart concluded by appealing to residents to contribute towards the school’s fundraising efforts, adding that these contributions would make a world of difference to the school.
