Bertha Scheepers-Peters, spokesperson for the roads agency, had said the roads agency’s regional depot would patch and repair the roads as required, remove silt and ensure the roads were safe and accessible for the community as from 22 February.
However, resident Toni Lutz who lives in the area, said he had not seen any roads agency personnel on site to date.
“I have spent the better part of six months trying to get the roads agency to pay some attention to our roads,” added Lutz.
He said Joburg Water had replaced water pipes in Sandhurst Ext 4 a while ago. “We were constantly without water due to burst pipes,” he said.
“Now, we have a couple of major problems with our roads, making them unsafe. We have a number of issues and have reported these with no progress. I am not sure where else to turn.”
Scheepers-Peters apologised for the poor communication from the roads agency and encouraged residents to escalate queries to them so that they could hold their employees accountable.
She added that residents must note that resurfacing of roads was done on an annual capital programme basis and these roads would be noted for attention as soon as possible.
