Redhill matriculant at 16 and has already bagged 11

SANDTON – Redhill Shool's Ambroise Muller has achieved an astonishing 11 distinctions, at the tender age of 16.

There will be a few matriculants across the country who will be able to boast 11 distinctions but to achieve this at the tender age of 16, is astonishing.

Ambroise Muller, who attends Redhill School, did exactly this.

“I am very grateful to have been able to study at Redhill School,” said Ambroise.

“It has been a truly unique and fantastic experience, one I will never forget. The freedom and the spirit of challenge that occupies every aspect of school life is simply the most enriching thing one can get from one’s high school career.”

He added he came first in the 2017 National Life Sciences Olympiad and was invited to represent South Africa at the 2017 London International Youth Science Forum. “I was also selected to be part of the Gauteng team in the 2017 inter-provincial maths challenge.”

A Scout, a member of Redhill’s 2017 public speaking prepared team and a skilled musician, Muller appears able to master everything. “I play tenor trombone and piano as individual instruments at Grade 8 level, and in group ensembles such as the Redhill Jazz Band and the Chamber Orchestra, I play the trombone,” he said, adding that he did not have a favourite instrument.

How did he meet the challenges of studies, music and extracurricular activities? “Time management. Without this, I would never have managed to do all I did during my four years at Redhill. Time management enabled me to study 12 subjects, be involved in the school’s cultural department, while also studying for my French baccalaureate [academic qualification which French students take after high school].”

Proficient in French and Spanish, next year Ambroise will take his A-levels at St John’s College in Johannesburg, after which he will study for his final exams for his French baccalaureate.
