Large areas of Joburg North have been affected by a power outage since the early hours of this morning.
City Power announced that they are currently experiencing an outage at the Sebenza Substation due to a technical fault which caused a transformer failure.
“It is suspected that there is a total shutdown of generators at Kelvin Power Station, which might have caused the transformer to trip,” said City Power in a statement.
City Power’s spokesperson Isaac Mangena said, “City Power has sent a team of engineers and technicians to site to investigate. Expected time of restoration is not currently available from site as yet.”
Some of the areas affected include Killarney, Bramley, Wynberg, Lombardy East, Orange Grove, Marlboro, Kelvin and Norwood to name a few.
