Swift police reaction led to the arrest of a suspect during an attempted house robbery in Bryanston.
According to Captain Granville Meyer, spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station, the incident occurred in Bryanston on 25 January.
“The suspect and other accomplices accosted the victim in his garden and tried to force the front door open,” he said.
Meyer added that the suspects were apparently disturbed by something and ran away.
He said police reacted swiftly and the suspect was arrested in the vicinity of the incident.
“The 28-year-old man from Alexandra was charged with attempted house robbery and theft,” said Meyer.
He was remanded in custody and was expected to appear in the Alexandra Regional Court on 28 January.
