Owner of the African Renaissance clothing brand Vicki Tesoriero says her brand is all about promoting South Africa and creating employment locally.
Her clothing brand, which was started seven years ago, is built around local artwork, creating the illusion of beadwork.
“I wanted to create something for tourists that they could wear anywhere. Something neutral that appeals to all. Its style has a European influence but its fabric is African,” said the Sunninghill resident.
After importing clothes from South America, Tesoriero decided she wanted to promote local, appealing to tourists.
“I established the brand on the idea of creating local jobs and promoting manufacturing in South Africa. The garments are all hand-made and designed by us.”
The brand is aimed at an international clientele who want to take home something South African.
“It’s more than just buying clothing, you take home a piece of Africa,” she said.
She also sells matching handbags and jewellery to compliment the clothing.
